Bill O'Neill
Head Coach

The 2018 season is Bill O'Neill's fourth year at Bryn Athyn College. O'Neill--who has over 30 years of playing and coaching experiences--enters his fourth year as the head men's soccer coach and third as the head women's soccer coach.
In the first three years at the helm of the men, O'Neill has led the Lions to 17 victories, including a program-record eight wins in the 2015 season, and produced a pair of All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) selections. The 17 wins are the most by a Bryn Athyn men's soccer head coach.
Last season, the Lions racked up five wins and had senior David Camara, the team's leading scorer with seven goals, earn a place on the All-NEAC third team.
The 2016 season saw Bryn Athyn win four matches, three coming in NEAC play. Sophomore midfielder Matheus Sousa was an All-NEAC third team selection.
In O'Neill's first season at Bryn Athyn, the Lions put together eight victories, a program record and three-win improvement from 2014.
As the head coach of the Bryn Athyn women's soccer program, O'Neill owns a 16-16-2 record and one appearance in the NEAC Tournament.
The 2017 season saw the Lions post a 9-7-1 overall record and reach the NEAC Tournament as the three seed in the southern division after going 5-5-0 in division play. Bryn Athyn reached the second round of the NEAC Tournament after getting past Lancaster Bible on penalty kicks in the opening game. Sophomore forward Shelby Puccio scored a program-record 20 goals, which was second in the NEAC, to earn a place on the All-NEAC second team. Kristen White and Gianna Ciacciarelli were both named to the All-NEAC third team.
In the program's first season, Bryn Athyn was 7-9-1 overall. Puccio led the Lions with seven goals.
Before coming to Bryn Athyn, O’Neill spent three years as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Division II Holy Family. The Tigers had a 19-26-9 overall and made two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournaments during that three-year span.
O'Neill is a member of the Southeastern PA Soccer Hall of Fame after an illustrious playing career that included honors at George Washington High School and Rowan University.
At George Washington High School, O'Neill won the 1985 and 1987 Philadelphia Public League championship. In his senior year, O'Neill was the team captain, the City Player of the Year, 1st Team All-Public League and All-Scholastic. In his four-year career at Rowan University, O'Neill was named All-New Jersey Athletic Conference every year (1987 - honorable mention, 1988 - third team, 1989 - second team, 1990 - first team) and All-Region in 1989 (third team) and 1990 (second team). O'Neill--a team captain in 1989 and 1990--played in three NCAA Tournaments (1987, 1988, 1990) and won the NCAA Division III championship in 1990.
His playing career continued after college in the professional ranks, where he played for the Philadelphia Freedom of the United States Interregional Soccer League.
O'Neill graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern University with a bachelor of science degree early, elementary and special education. He currently holds a USSF D license.
